How can the rural flower industry reach an even higher level?
In the process of adjusting the planting structure in rural areas, the flower industry has developed by leaps and bounds. But looking at the overall situation of China's rural flower industry, the production model and marketing model of the small-peasant economy are everywhere, which has caused relative overproduction and a continuous decline in flower prices.
On the production side, the scattered small-peasant production method is hard pressed to withstand the torrent of the market and inevitably leads to price-cutting competition, causing flower prices to fall year after year. On the marketing side, flower growers produce and sell on their own, dispersing both production and market entry, and have failed to form a strong market entity with common interests, leaving themselves at the mercy of market forces, which is another important factor in the decline in flower prices. Because farmers' sales channels are narrow, most flower growers simply rent a space at a flower trading market and sell there, a monotonous and passive approach that creates the appearance of overproduction in flower production when viewed from the market.
The key to solving the above problems is, first, to raise flower growers' awareness of science and technology; second, to separate production from sales; third, to develop deep processing; and fourth, to take the path of industrialization. Especially in marketing, marketing companies and broker teams should be set up at the county and township levels to gradually separate production from sales; at the same time, full use should be made of origin protection policies to achieve brand benefits. In addition, giving play to the role of flower associations is also an important factor. Flower associations should organize scattered flower growers into a common-interest entity with strong market power and form a monopoly in marketing.
