From 3G to 5G, Competing Across Borders for the Championship: Mobileheroes Builds an International Industry Team

Want to create your own 3D virtual world? No professional skills required. The innovative software system StellarX, paired with a high-speed network environment, lets you build XR (extended reality) simulated scenarios with simple drag-and-drop; point your phone at the 101 Building, and King Kong appears on the screen, already having climbed to the very top. This is the AR spatial content positioning technology launched by ARGO, which relies on the high-speed network characteristics of 5G to let tourists around you interact in real time and turn the city into an AR amusement park. In 2020, the industry is focused on 5G applications, and these creative energies can all be seen at the communications competition held on December 15 in the Guoguang Conference Hall of the CPC Corporation Building.

The Mobileheroes Communications Competition, organized by the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, is now in its 19th edition. Its biggest feature is that all competition prize money is sponsored by enterprises, and this year it received support from 36 sponsoring companies; in recent years it has also emphasized hands-on implementation, encouraging teams to develop practical and cross-disciplinary solutions to increase the possibility of future commercialization.

This year's competition themes included the Connectivity Future Challenge, the CONNECTIVITY INNOVATION AWARDS international competition, the 5G Multi-Antenna System Innovative Design Competition, and the 5G Pilot Innovative Application Competition. A total of 429 teams and 903 heroes competed for awards and the crown with a total prize pool of up to 6 million yuan. This year also marked the first time an international competition was held, attracting 32 teams from 7 countries including Canada, France, the United States, Poland, Myanmar, Hong Kong, and Singapore, who exchanged ideas with domestic innovative talents through the communications competition platform, injecting innovative momentum into Taiwan's information and communications industry.

After 5 months of implementation and optimization, the judging panel selected the winning teams of the four major competitions. The highest honor recipients were: champion of the Connectivity Future Challenge: the team from Jeli Internet Co., Ltd. with "Arctos Two-Way Roaming Device"; champion of the CONNECTIVITY INNOVATION AWARDS international competition: the Smart Tag Inc team with "Smart Sticker Smart Tag"; champion of the 5G Multi-Antenna System Innovative Design Competition: the "Can't Put Down the Phone" team with "Multi-Antenna System Design for Foldable Phones"; champion of the 5G Pilot Innovative Application Competition: the ARGO team with "Combined Application of AR Spatial Content Positioning and Live Streaming." On that day, all winning teams set up booths on site for simultaneous exhibitions, allowing visiting members of the public to experience various innovative smart connectivity and 5G applications and witness the results of the communications competition in cultivating talent.
