Domestic timber to break through 5% self-sufficiency by 2027! Acacia, zelkova, China fir, Taiwania, and Taiwan incense cedar: five native tree species lead the way
5 native tree species of Taiwan, China, to turn around the domestic timber self-sufficiency rate! The Council of Agriculture expects to raise the timber self-sufficiency rate to 5% by 2027. The Taiwan Forestry Research Institute plans to use acacia, zelkova, China fir, Taiwania, and Taiwan incense cedar as the plantation economic forest species for the next 30 years. At present, seed orchards already exist for China fir, Taiwania, and Taiwan incense cedar, while breeding orchards for the other species are being established, with seedlings raised by the Forestry Bureau and provided to operators.
