10 Consecutive Years of Winning the National Tea-Making Technique Competition: New Taipei City Government Launches Ten-Championship Tea Exhibition
(Taiwan TB News Network / Reporter Sun Yao-chang) Since the 100th year of the Republic of China (2011) to the present, New Taipei City has won the championship in the National Tea-Making Technique Competition for 10 consecutive years, making it a veritable "champion tea hometown." This year's winter tea combines three major themes - "10-Year Champion of the National Tea-Making Technique Competition," "New Taipei Six Major Specialty Teas," and "Local Revitalization Teams" - to launch an interactive winter tea exhibition in cooperation with Banqiao Mega City Department Store, open to the public for free visits from the 27th to December 4th. On the 28th and 29th, this year's National Tea-Making Technique Competition champion and local New Taipei tea masters will be invited to brew the "freshest" winter tea on-site for the public to taste.
New Taipei City Deputy Mayor Wu Ming-chi stated that New Taipei City has a tea production area of 750 hectares, an annual output of 400 tons, and a production value of approximately 1.1 billion yuan. It is not only the birthplace of pouchong tea but also the largest pouchong tea production region. Its output, quality, and technique are all second to none nationwide. It has won the championship in the National Partially Fermented Tea Tea-Making Technique Competition for 10 consecutive years. The quality of its fine tea is highly recognized, making it a veritable "champion tea hometown." To help everyone better understand New Taipei City's locally produced quality teas and the 10 years of accumulated champion tea-making technique, the city has for the first time combined the "10-Year Champion of the National Tea-Making Technique Competition," "New Taipei Six Major Specialty Teas," and the "Pinglin Local Revitalization Team" to launch the Ten-Championship Tea Special Exhibition. During the production-area promotion period, a "Champion Tea Hometown Snack Box" will be offered, inviting the public to visit the Ten-Championship Tea Special Exhibition and also to go to the champion tea hometown of Pinglin to taste local tea foods.
The New Taipei City Agriculture Department stated that on December 5, 6, 12, and 13, at the Pinglin production area, there will also be arranged activities including "Famous Opera Performers Touring the Tea Hometown Peking Opera Costume Experience," "Tea Affairs Experience Camp," "Hundred-Person Tea Rice Ball Making," and "Tea Cuisine DIY," as well as cooperation with local revitalization teams to incorporate local characteristics into the planning of old street installation art, along with a series of wonderful activities.
