Grasp the timing of pesticide application on flowers to ensure their normal growth.

During the growth of flowering plants, correctly grasping the timing of pesticide application can not only save pesticides and reduce costs, but also improve the efficacy of the pesticide, control the damage caused by pests and diseases to the seedlings, and ensure the normal growth of the flowers in the later stage. The optimal periods for applying pesticides against flower pests and diseases are introduced as follows:

1. Natural enemy sensitive period. During the period when the natural enemies of pests are relatively sensitive to pesticide reactions, use as little pesticide as possible or none at all, in order to protect the natural enemies.

2. Safety interval period. The timing of pesticide application should also follow the safe use standards for pesticides, and application should be carried out within the safety interval period, so as to avoid pesticide residues exceeding the standard and causing adverse consequences.

3. Susceptible growth stage. For crops, the growth stage in which they are susceptible to disease is the suitable period for disease control. For example, the seedling stage is most susceptible to damping-off, and treating seeds with a fungicide before sowing or spraying at the seedling stage gives very good control results.

4. Rodent fasting period. From the perspective of effectively controlling rodent density, the placement of poisoned bait is best done during the stage when rodents are fasting and before they breed in large numbers. Many years of experiments have proven that rodent control in spring gives the best results, because the rodents' winter food stores are exhausted and their intake of poisoned bait is correspondingly greater.

5. Pest outbreak period. For pests, the outbreak period can be the egg hatching outbreak period, the larval outbreak period, or the adult outbreak period. Which period to apply pesticide in must be determined according to the specific situation. In principle, you must understand the pest's living habits and apply the pesticide at the stage when the pest is most easily killed and its damage can be effectively controlled.

6. Weed sensitive period. When applying herbicides, application should generally be carried out during the weed sensitive period. For weeds propagated by seed, the young sprout stage is generally more sensitive to herbicides. Therefore, this period is often taken as the suitable period for weed control. When using broad-spectrum non-selective herbicides such as glyphosate and paraquat, the weeds are more sensitive during their vigorous growth period. If controlling spring weeds and summer weeds, spraying during the weed outbreak period is best.

7. Plant safety period. The safety of the pesticide to the plant is a prerequisite for determining the suitable application period. For example, applying pesticide to some flowers at the seedling stage can easily cause young leaves to turn yellow and die; applying pesticide to some flowers at the flowering stage can very easily cause the flowers to wither. Therefore, when applying pesticides, you should choose a period when the plant has relatively strong resistance to the pesticide for spraying, so as to avoid causing plant damage.
