Taiwan's first large-scale fishery-solar co-existence site! Chiayi fishery-solar co-existence breaks ground on the 23rd

Taiwan Cement Chia-Chien Green Energy held a groundbreaking ceremony for fishery-solar co-existence in Yizhu Township, the nation's first large-scale fishery-solar co-existence site. It is expected to officially generate power in July next year, with annual power generation reaching 54 million kWh. Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-Liang, Taiwan Salt Chairman Chen Chi-Yu, Taiwan Cement Chairman Chang An-Ping, Bureau of Energy Chief Secretary Weng Su-Chen, Fisheries Agency Deputy Director-General Lin Kuo-Ping, Chiayi County Council Deputy Speaker Chen Yi-Yueh, County Councilors Tsai Wei-Chieh and Huang Chin-Mao, and Yizhu Township Chief Huang A-Chia and other guests participated together, expressing the hope that this place will become a benchmark and model of Taiwan's green energy power supply and aquaculture fishery co-existence.

"Putting fishermen's production first, with green energy as a supplement." Magistrate Weng Chang-Liang emphasized that - in order to steadily develop green energy and advance the national energy transition policy, Chiayi County - under the guidance of the national green energy policy, is also prudently promoting the development of combining aquaculture fisheries with green energy, upholding the balance of aquaculture industry development, fishermen's rights, green energy power generation and the ecological environment, driving toward the sustainability of green energy, the aquaculture industry and the ecological environment, and creating a win-win situation.

Within the zone, Taiwan Cement Chia-Chien Green Energy will invest 2 billion yuan in funding, installing green energy modules across about 23 hectares, which in the future can create 43MW of green energy. It is expected to officially generate power in July next year, with average annual power generation reaching 54 million kWh, enough to supply the electricity needed by more than 16,000 households for 1 year. Over 20 years, the cumulative reduction in carbon emissions will reach the annual carbon absorption of 1,550 Daan Forest Parks, making it a clean energy fishery-solar co-existence power generation site.

In the future, more fishery-solar co-existence sites will be promoted one after another. This site will be the nation's first, and the Chiayi County Government will assist and supervise Taiwan Cement and Taiwan Salt to carry out its promotion, making it a model of Taiwan's green energy power supply and aquaculture fishery co-existence.
