The simple, honest flavor of Xinhu Village in Baozhong Township - the rural spirit
Living in the countryside, starting from the first clues, slowly exploring, slowly going deeper among the people, the more guidance you will find. And if someone says: You can't see anyone in the countryside!! Then Nomi Xiaotong will tell everyone, that's because you used the wrong method, looked in the wrong place, and picked the wrong time ^^

Just like this time when Nomi Xiaotong came to Wuxian Temple in Xinhu Village, originally wanting to chat with the elders here and ask about the stories of Xinhu Village, many enthusiastic locals and the current village chief all strongly recommended "the old village chief of Xinhu Village" to Nomi Xiaotong. Everyone said that although the old village chief is old, he still remembers the affairs and history of the village very clearly. If you come to Xinhu and want to know Xinhu, he is definitely the right person to ask.

So, after receiving this instruction, Nomi Xiaotong began, like a variety show, searching for traces of the old village chief in the village, asking left and looking right; finally, after turning through several winding alleys, Nomi Xiaotong found traces of the old village chief. The 72-year-old old village chief of Xinhu Village, Village Chief Xu Laojie, first began serving as village chief at about age 48, serving as the 16th to 19th village chief of Xinhu Village (the current village chief is the 21st). Because he was amiable and warm in service, he was always loved by the villagers, so his tenure as village chief lasted as long as 16 years.

At first, Nomi Xiaotong greeted the village chief, and with a timid heart began to worry about how to start a conversation with him. Hehe; fortunately, after entering the old village chief's reception room, there happened to be several elders inside brewing tea and chatting. Just as the elders were very curious about how Nomi Xiaotong had found the old village chief, Nomi Xiaotong stood up and introduced himself. Although Nomi Xiaotong looks very young, he is definitely not a scam group! These words also made the elders laugh heartily (so I am grateful for this precious human warmth in the countryside).

Then Nomi Xiaotong chatted with the elders about childhood memories. Besides longan seeds, bamboo + Ku-lian seeds, what was even more special was that the elders of Xinhu Village would also go to the ponds in summer, where there were plenty of aquatic creatures. In the early days, when water conservancy facilities were inadequate, farm ponds were the best way to regulate water. But the elders said: farm ponds also had many fun things, for example: children big and small would help each other, stacking layer upon layer of water hyacinth into a small boat, then leisurely row around the pond. At that time the ditches were very clear, and people often went into the ditches to feel for freshwater clams while washing their pants (actually it was just to play in the water!).

The elders told Nomi Xiaotong that the most interesting thing was that in the past everyone was from farming families, and every household raised cattle. Back then they would even gather a group and take them to the (Taiwan Sugar) farm to graze. The older children would lead the way, and on the way they had to cross a big ditch. Some of the older children led the cattle, and some rode them (what!!! riding cattle). The younger children, because they were not tall enough, usually rode the cattle across the ditch. Once they reached the farm, they began letting the cattle graze, and this was also the children's free time. The cattle grazed while the children played nearby, often playing until they almost forgot to go home!
