Flower winter freeze-protection tips: do these few things to get through winter safely

How do flowers protect against freezing in winter?

Once winter arrives, the weather and climate become abnormal, with strong winds as well as rain and snow. For flower seedling growers, the difficulty they face is how to prevent freezing. If freeze-protection measures are not done well, flowers will die and wither. Below, the editor will discuss with everyone how flowers protect against freezing in winter.

How flowers protect against freezing in winter.

1. Add coverings. At night, a small tunnel should be set up inside the greenhouse and straw curtains added. Adding grass mats or straw around the greenhouse at night can raise the temperature by 1°C to 2°C. Adding another thin mat on top of the original straw mat can raise the greenhouse temperature by 2°C to 3°C. Covering the original straw mat with a layer of film can not only block wind but also prevent rain and snow from wetting the straw mat, thereby reducing heat loss caused by water evaporation. For flowers planted in the ground, plastic film mulching can also be used; after covering, the soil temperature can be raised by more than 1°C.

2. Clean the greenhouse film. Promptly and cleanly remove dust, dirt and accumulated snow from the greenhouse film, which can increase light exposure and raise the greenhouse temperature.

3. Dig cold-proof trenches. Dig trenches on the south side outside the greenhouse, fill them with horse manure, weeds, straw, etc., and spray with Xinguozhimo (new high-fat film) to keep warm and prevent freezing, which can prevent ground heat from escaping outward and raise the ground temperature in the southern part of the greenhouse.

4. Three-film covering. Spray flowers with Xinguozhimo (new high-fat film) to improve the flowers' warmth retention and freeze resistance. Set up another layer of film below the drip-free film. Because there is air between the two film layers, one layer protects the flowers from freezing, and it can noticeably prevent flowers from freezing.

5. Remove mats at the proper time. When temperature conditions permit, remove them as early as possible and cover them as late as possible to promote photosynthesis in the flowers.

6. Spray antifreeze. Before the temperature drops, spray the plant stems and leaves with antifreeze + Xinguozhimo (new high-fat film), which can isolate and kill pest and disease sources through suffocation and has a warmth-retaining and freeze-preventing effect.
