Yunlin County is a major agricultural county with a large farming population. In order to care for farmers and enhance Yunlin County's agricultural production technology, Yunlin County will stop collecting agricultural machinery license plate fees starting December 1, 2020 (the 109th year of the Republic of China calendar), to reduce the burden on farmers.

County Magistrate Chang Li-shan stated that the 2020 Yunlin International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition, which had just concluded successfully, attracted 520,000 visitors in just 3 days, with on-site transactions reaching as high as 580 million yuan. After the event, it will also create greater profits and more orders for participating manufacturers! Replacing human labor with machinery has already become a trend in modern agricultural production. Farmers have increasingly greater demand for and reliance on agricultural machinery. Various types of agricultural machinery can help farmers save labor and effort, reduce costs, and alleviate the problem of agricultural labor shortages. Therefore, Yunlin County will stop collecting the long-standing agricultural machinery license plate fees starting December 1, 2020 (the 109th year of the Republic of China calendar).

Wei Sheng-te, Director of the Yunlin County Agriculture Department, pointed out that over the years, when farmers applied to their township offices for agricultural machinery license plates, the offices collected a 100-yuan fee on behalf of the farmers and then paid it into the county treasury. However, starting December 1, farmers will no longer need to pay this fee.

County Magistrate Chang Li-shan emphasized that agriculture is the foundation of the nation. With rural aging and labor shortages becoming increasingly severe, the county government team will continue to work hard to enhance local agricultural competitiveness through the integration of technology and agriculture, inspire young people's interest in and willingness to pursue agriculture, and continue to hold the Yunlin International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition. It is hoped that through new forms of agricultural technology and agricultural machinery, farmers' income will increase, allowing Taiwan's agriculture to develop sustainably.
