2020 Xinwu Goose Meat Food Banquet served deliciously, enthusiastic public sign-ups fill 183 tables

Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan yesterday (the 25th) morning went to Xinwu District to attend the "2020 Xinwu Goose Meat Food Banquet." Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that Xinwu District is the hometown of goose meat, long known by the saying "South Taixi, North Xinwu," and also by the saying "no goose, no feast." Xinwu geese are mainly local native geese and hybrid new goose breeds, with meat that has enough chewiness and good texture. The 183 tables were fully booked in less than 1 day after reservations opened, with nearly 20% ordered by people from other counties and cities, showing they are extremely popular with the public. To promote the excellent goose meat produced in Xinwu, the Department of Agriculture subsidized the Xinwu District Farmers' Association to hold the "2020 Xinwu Goose Meat Food Banquet," welcoming fellow citizens to come and enjoy the Xinwu goose meat feast.

Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan pointed out that Taoyuan's annual livestock output value exceeds 4.5 billion, ranking first in northern Taiwan. In addition to the famous Taoyuan black pork and Xinwu goose meat, there are also the country's only blue-shell functional eggs and the finest Holstein dairy cattle, successfully making "Mr. Xinwu Goose," "Dr. Pig," "Black Pearl Pig," and "smart dairy farming" synonymous with Taoyuan. He hopes the event will encourage citizens to support local agricultural and livestock products with practical action, and to reduce the food carbon footprint through the concepts of "from farm to table" and "local production, local sales," creating sustainable operation for livestock farmers.

Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan also said that after enjoying Xinwu's most seasonal and freshest goose meat, people from all places are welcome to visit nearby. The city government has not only transformed the agriculture expo base into the Xinwu Environmental Education Park, but also built the Conch Plaza at Yongan Fishing Harbor. In addition, Xinwu High School is about to be completed, which is believed to give Xinwu High School a brand-new look and also make Xinwu a new highlight for Taoyuan tourism, injecting new charm.
