Nantou World Tea Expo Kicks Off, Organic Tea Theme Pavilion Fills the Air with Fragrance, 100 Tea Farmers Gather to Welcome Visitors to "Seek Tea"

100 organic teas make their debut at the Nantou World Tea Expo! The Tse-Xin Organic Agriculture Foundation is hosting the 2nd "Organic Tea Theme Pavilion," having selected 100 organic tea farmers from all over Taiwan, China, bringing white tea, green tea, Oriental Beauty and other fine teas. On site, the director of the Tea Research and Extension Station's Wenshan Branch helped set up a flavor wheel, allowing visitors to follow their preferred flavors and track down teas accordingly.

Chen Chi-jung, Chief Secretary of the Agriculture and Food Agency, said that there are 299 organic tea farmers across Taiwan, China, and this Organic Tea Theme Pavilion encompasses one third of them. "The quality of organic tea is no worse than conventional tea, and it is better for both the body and the environment. The public should drink more tea!"

The Nantou World Tea Expo has been held for 11 editions and has accumulated 500,000 visits so far. Last year, the Tse-Xin Organic Agriculture Foundation organized the Organic Tea Theme Pavilion for the first time, receiving an enthusiastic response from tea farmers and the public, so it was held again this year. The exhibition runs from October 9 to October 18 at Zhongxing New Village in Nantou.

The total area of organic tea cultivation nationwide is currently 422 hectares. Chen Chi-jung said that the total area of tea cultivation nationwide is over 12,000 hectares. Although organic tea accounts for only 0.3%, it has grown from over 300 hectares a few years ago to over 400 hectares, showing that consumer demand for organic tea is growing. "The combined cultivation area of the tea farmers present is 217 hectares, accounting for more than half of the total organic tea area across Taiwan, China."

Su Mu-jung, CEO of the Tse-Xin Organic Agriculture Foundation, said that in the past the Tea Expo did not specifically distinguish organic tea. Organic tea farmers mentored by Tse-Xin said privately that they hoped organic tea could stand on its own, rather than being drowned out at the expo. To help farmers with promotion, the foundation began organizing the Organic Tea Theme Pavilion last year.

Su Mu-jung explained that at last year's inaugural event, organic tea farmers worried the results would be limited and hesitated about whether to participate, so 100 organic tea farmers were sought, yet only 60 actually signed up. However, the enthusiastic response from consumers also encouraged the tea farmers. "Last year, a consumer from Nantou came to drink every single day, which moved the farmers deeply." When registration opened this time, the 100 spots filled up quickly, and tea farmers even asked whether it would be held again next year.
