Animal rights group exposes the reality of "bloody duck eggs": high mortality in battery-cage duck farming, Taiwan's duck egg exports to the EU may face a "No"

Taiwan's duck eggs are rich and delicious, not only an essential ingredient for mooncake egg yolk pastries during the Mid-Autumn Festival and for zongzi during the Dragon Boat Festival, but also the raw material for century eggs and salted eggs. Ducks are mostly raised outdoors, but in our country some operators still use "battery cages" to raise laying ducks, and their mortality rate is far higher than that of ordinary laying ducks. This not only fails to meet the spirit of humane farming, but EU civil society groups have also said no to Taiwan's "bloody duck eggs," which could severely hinder exports.

The environment for caged laying ducks is harsh, and the Animal Research Institute calls on consumers to boycott "bloody duck eggs." (Provided by the Animal Society)
