2020 Taoyuan Hakka Culture Festival kicks off, three major series of events showcase the charm of Hakka culture

Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan attended the "2020 Taoyuan Hakka Culture Festival Press Conference" at the City Hall Front Plaza on the afternoon of yesterday (the 17th). Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan stated that after Taoyuan's upgrade, the city government has continued to promote Hakka language, Hakka drama and music, allowing Hakka to enter life and become part of daily life. This year's (2020) Hakka Culture Festival includes three major series of events: the "Moonlight Reunion Music Feast," "Hakka Drama Tour," and "Rice Straw Creation Contest," focusing on Hakka cuisine and crafts, allowing everyone to experience the charm of Hakka culture. The city government will also continue to hold various activities, allowing Hakka culture to be passed down from generation to generation, bringing the younger generation closer to Hakka, and building Taoyuan into the number one Hakka village.

Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that the "Moonlight Reunion Music Feast" is scheduled to be held on September 26 at the plaza in front of the Fan Jiang Ancestral Hall in Xinwu. This year's banquet is themed "Hakka Village Real-Name System Vitality Meal." "Real-name system" means that every ingredient in the banquet can be traced, and combined with Taoyuan's local agricultural specialty products, 3 pomelo health dishes will be introduced. Each table at the banquet costs 2,000 yuan, with a total of 70 tables. Citizens are welcome to register from now until 12:00 noon on September 20, and a live drawing will be held on the Hakka Culture Foundation's Facebook fan page at 13:00 on September 20. This year's "Hakka Drama Tour" will be held from September 19 to November 13, inviting well-known troupes including the Puppet Puppet Theater Troupe, New Paradise Theater Troupe, Galaxy Gu Yin Theater Troupe, De Tai Theater Troupe, Jing Sheng Theater Troupe, and Apple Theater Troupe to participate in the tour. The Hakka Affairs Bureau, the Taoyuan City Hakka Culture Foundation, and Pili Puppetry collaborated to co-produce the "The Legend of the Sacred Stone - The Mystery of Ancient Luobu Hakka Version," which also joined the Hakka Drama Tour activities, showcasing the unique charm of the Hakka language.

This year's "Rice Straw Creation Contest" is scheduled for October 17 at the paddy field in front of Qingqian Di in Sankeng, Longtan. Each team may have 5 to 10 people, with a total of 50 teams open for registration. The total prize money is as high as 65,000 yuan, allowing everyone to experience traditional Hakka rural straw weaving art and recall the old days of earlier times.
