Hualien County - Committed to promoting Hualien specialty coffee, aspiring to be the backbone of its farmers

The final event of the 4th Hualien Specialty Coffee Evaluation and Industry Coaching Series took place on the 14th at Fullon Hotel Hualien. County Magistrate Hsu Chen-wei, accompanied by Director-General of the Department of Agriculture Wu Kun-ju and Director-General of the Department of Indigenous Affairs Chen Chien-tsun, attended the awards ceremony and held a dialogue with teacher Han Huaizong, teacher Lin Zhe-hao, and gold award winner Dr. Dai Feng-qiu. In the end, she also visited the booths one by one, carefully tasting the award-winning coffees and giving the farmers the most genuine feedback.

"Hualien County - is the backbone of its farmers," said County Magistrate Hsu Chen-wei with full confidence, stating that in the future Hualien will absolutely be able to become a very important coffee-producing region in Taiwan, China! We must work hand in hand with farmers to promote Hualien's coffee to the outside world. Among the award winners, 9 of the 17 green coffee lots received organic certification. In particular, the gold award-winning Nida Coffee, the silver award-winning Baichuan Organic Farm, the bronze award-winning Shanhailan Coffee Garden, and the quality award-winning Ajin Estate were all among the top, serving as the best representatives of organic coffee. This shows that organic coffee has the strength to compete with conventionally farmed coffee, overturning the traditional belief that using chemical fertilizers and pesticides can improve quality.

Hualien County - putting the concept of sustainable operation into practice through action, and wholeheartedly investing in coaching for Hualien's coffee industry. The three-day marathon-style intensive specialty coffee evaluation, the Hualien County CQI Q Grader coffee quality evaluator training program, four Hualien County resident coffee culture lectures, the results presentation, and the green coffee matchmaking session - the 4th Hualien Specialty Coffee Evaluation and Industry Coaching Series has come to a successful conclusion. The story behind Hualien coffee's different terroirs, flavors, and exquisite processing methods is to be continued. We look forward to an even more wonderful Hualien coffee story next year.
