Experience Hakka Village Culture: Taichung City Holds Shigang Tuniu Breadfruit Festival

On the 30th, the Taichung City Hakka Affairs Committee held the "Breadfruit Festival Fun for Everyone" at the Tuniu Hakka Culture Hall in Shigang, Taichung City. The event featured Hakka folk songs and dance performances, and also invited indigenous and new immigrant arts and cultural groups to perform. On-site stalls offered local mountain-town fruits, gourmet food, agricultural specialties, handmade cultural and creative products, and more, along with a fun Hakka slang challenge game, letting the public experience a Hakka village market full of old-world charm.

Hakka Affairs Committee Director Jiang Junlong said that behind the Tuniu Hakka Culture Hall in Shigang stands a century-old breadfruit tree that bears abundant fruit every midsummer. This breadfruit festival was held to attract many visitors to the Hakka village to experience Hakka cultural creativity, cuisine, culture and more, and also served as an opportunity to commend 21 outstanding volunteers, thanking them for their long-term selfless dedication. Everyone is welcome to visit the mountain town enthusiastically and enjoy the Hakka atmosphere.

The Hakka Affairs Committee pointed out that people who play the Hakka slang challenge game can receive a Hakka village industry experience voucher. In conjunction with this year's Taichung Shopping Festival, as long as visitors to the mountain town accumulate 500 yuan in spending and register their receipts, they have a chance to win a "luxury home." With only 2 days left in the event, the public is welcome to seize the opportunity. The event was attended by City Councilor Ran Lingxuan, Shigang District Chief Liu Suxing, and heads of various Shigang villages and representatives of Hakka associations, among others. City Councilor Cai Chenggui also sent a representative to offer greetings.
