Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan went to Fuxing District yesterday (the 30th) in the afternoon to attend the "2020 Lala Mountain Spring High-Mountain Oolong Tea Awards Ceremony" and said that Fuxing District's Lala Mountain has an exceptional growing environment; the tea grown locally has a sweet, soft tea liquor, with a throat feel carrying a special floral and fruity fragrance and a very unique mouthfeel. This year (2020), the Grand Prize winner of Lala Mountain Spring High-Mountain Oolong Tea is Mr. Chiu Feng-tien. Congratulations to him for winning the Grand Prize again. The tea he grows comes from the Shangbaling tribe on Lala Mountain at an altitude of 1,500 m; his tea garden has a cultivation area of about 1.5 hectares and an annual output of about 2,000 Taiwan jin. It is a representative tea brand of Lala Mountain, and the tea in the tea bidding auction also sold at a high price of 770,000 yuan per jin, clearly showing its brand value.
Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that, in order to refine tea farmers' tea production techniques and quality, he thanks the Fuxing District Farmers' Association for holding the Lala Mountain High-Mountain Oolong Tea competition every year, helping tea farmers build brands, raise visibility, and increase business opportunities and income. Residents of Fuxing District make use of the local terrain, climate and soil environment to grow tea in areas including Baling, Guanghua tribe, Xinxing tribe, and Sanguang Village. The cultivation area is about 46 hectares, the annual output is about 120,000 Taiwan jin, and the output value can reach about 240 million yuan, showing strong agricultural value. Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that Fuxing District is a newly developed tea area in recent years, and it is not easy for its production capacity to perform so brilliantly. The city government will fully support tea and more categories of agricultural products produced in Fuxing District, and assist in promoting and marketing related products to increase business opportunities for indigenous township tribes.
