Double maiden voyage! World's first cruise ship to resume sailing departs from Keelung

The "Explorer Dream", which departed from Keelung Port on the evening of the 26th, is the first cruise ship to resume sightseeing itineraries since the outbreak of the pandemic. Keelung Mayor Lin Yu-chang, who personally took part in the island-hopping itinerary, not only expressed his hope for better services at Keelung Port in the future, but also did not forget to bring city government officials along to vigorously promote Keelung City's tourist attractions on board.

During the welcome ceremony held yesterday (the 27th) when the "Explorer Dream" arrived in Penghu, Mayor Lin Yu-chang stressed that island-hopping itineraries like the one offered by the "Explorer Dream" can reach deeper into every corner of Taiwan and its outlying islands, and that he also has new ideas about Taiwan's local tourism, namely "the more local, the more international". He took part in this voyage in the spirit of observation and learning, hoping to provide better services at Keelung Port in the future and make visitors more satisfied.

In addition, the Keelung City Government Department of Tourism and City Marketing specially offers the newest way to experience Keelung - a boat tour of the two harbors to Heping Island. It guides local operators in integrating the resources of local businesses on Heping Island and plans a water route that views Keelung's land from the sea. By taking a boat that shuttles between the Keelung Port area and Zhengbin Fishing Port, one can view Keelung's history of development from a global perspective. The water route experience tour is scheduled to set sail on August 1 and will be sold as a package itinerary, including a boat ticket, guide fee, Heping Island Park admission ticket and a 300 yuan voucher for spending at designated businesses.

An island-hopping cruise project is also being launched. Passengers who show their room card when making purchases at participating shops can enjoy special project discount prices. The participating shops include Yupinxuan, Caiji Foods and Quanli Rice Crackers, among others.
