Common disease types of flowers

Plant diseases can be roughly divided into four major categories: fungal diseases, bacterial diseases, viral diseases, and physiological diseases.

Fungal diseases

Fungal diseases account for the largest proportion of diseases. The vegetative body of fungi is mainly mycelium, which grows inside and outside the plant. When it grows to a certain stage, it produces spores to continue reproducing. The environment in which fungal diseases develop is mostly humid, and mold-like and powdery substances grow on the tissues of the host. Externally, fungal diseases appear as symptoms such as rot and discoloration, tissue necrosis, wilting and deformity, and cankerous damping-off.

Bacterial diseases

Bacterial diseases

The proportion of plants infected by bacterial diseases is not large, and they are mostly acute necrosis. The external manifestations of bacterial diseases are that the affected parts have spots and cankers, and the lesions show water-soaked and oil-soaked appearances, as well as bacterial ooze.

Viral diseases

Viral diseases are mainly caused by viral invasion and infection, and they harm a wide variety of flower plants. Externally, viral pathogens appear as symptoms such as plant discoloration, spots, ring patterns, and clear veins. They also cause symptoms such as clustering, dwarfing, deformity, and necrosis. The sources of viruses are mainly spread when various insects take them in through their mouthparts and transmit them to plants.

Physiological diseases

Physiological diseases are mostly caused by adverse environments, such as high temperatures, low temperatures, or lack of nutrients, and other external causes. Their specific external manifestations in flowers are: leaf drop. fruit drop, and yellowing and withering of branches and leaves.
