Yunlin County Government and Huwei Farmers' Association Join Hands with Flower Growers: Floral Fragrance Drifts Through the Yunlin Story House

Huwei is an important flower production base in Yunlin County. Entering the post-pandemic era, Yunlin County - in order to revitalize the flower industry, jointly promotes a flower industry revitalization plan with the Agriculture and Food Agency, and cooperates with the Huwei Township Farmers' Association, using flowers such as Eustoma, Phalaenopsis orchids and Oncidium orchids produced by local Yunlin farmers to create beautiful and elegant arrangements at the Huwei Yunlin Story House. The exhibition will last for one month. Everyone is welcome to visit the Yunlin Story House, full of an artistic garden atmosphere, and at the same time feel the abundant floral fragrance. On the morning of the 6th, Director Wei Sheng-te of the County Government's Agriculture Department, Director Liu Hsin-liang of the Agriculture and Food Agency Central Region Branch Yunlin Office, Chief Secretary Chou Ying-kun of the Huwei Township Office, General Manager Huang Yu-hui of the Huwei Township Farmers' Association, General Manager Wu Chin-liang of the Dapi Township Farmers' Association, and representatives of the Sihu Township Farmers' Association attended the press conference for the Yunlin County flower industry revitalization plan, using the beautiful floral arrangements at the Yunlin Story House to let the public "discover" Yunlin through flowers.

Director Wei Sheng-te of the Yunlin County Agriculture Department stated that flower growers faced unsold inventory difficulties due to the impact of the pandemic. Yunlin County - in coordination with the Agriculture and Food Agency, promotes the flower industry revitalization plan, combining the efforts of the Huwei Township Farmers' Association, Dapi Township Farmers' Association, Gukeng Township Farmers' Association and Sihu Township Farmers' Association to purchase flowers from local growers. Through the skillful hands of floral designers, arrangements have been placed at Douliu Railway Station, the Yunlin County Labor Recreation Center (Mother Goose Children's Paradise) and the Yunlin County Government, among other locations. Today, through the floral display at the Yunlin Story House, in addition to decorating public facilities and venues within the county, the promotion of flower revitalization measures also aims to increase the domestic market, boost consumption of Yunlin County's specialty flowers, cultivate the public's habit of using flowers, and fill life with a sense of happiness.

Director Liu Hsin-liang of the Agriculture and Food Agency Central Region Branch Yunlin Office pointed out that as the world faces the COVID-19 pandemic, Taiwan's flower exports have inevitably been impacted due to international flights and usage volumes. Regarding the revitalization of the flower industry, the Agriculture and Food Agency, in addition to previously sending potted flowers to thank frontline pandemic prevention workers such as medical staff and pharmacies, promotes floral displays at public places such as stations and government agencies, and also encourages temples and campuses to use and purchase more domestically grown floral materials, hoping to increase domestic flower usage and help flower growers maintain their livelihoods. Here, we also thank the county - for inviting farmers' associations to jointly implement and promote the flower revitalization plan.
