Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang presents the flag at the establishment of the Chiayi Youth Aquaculture Association

Chiayi County has nearly 16,000 hectares of aquaculture area, making it Taiwan's most important aquatic production base. Chiayi County - mentored the younger generation of aquaculture farmers to establish the first youth force in the west - the Chiayi Youth Aquaculture Association, and on June 29, Magistrate Weng Chang-liang presented the flag to officially launch it. Magistrate Weng Chang-liang encouraged the young aquaculture farmers to carve out a place for Chiayi aquaculture and to carry the baton for Taiwan's future fishery industry.

The Chiayi Youth Aquaculture Association was established under the guidance of Chiayi County - and with the mentoring of the Republic of China Aquaculture Fisheries Development Association and the Chiayi Aquaculture Association. It is composed of a group of like-minded young aquaculture farmers under the age of 45. Through the association's organization, they pool their strength, encourage one another and exchange experience, using a team-based approach to break through the production and marketing problems of small farmers.

As it is the first youth aquaculture organization in a western county or city, young aquaculture farmers from nearby Yunlin and Tainan also joined upon hearing the news. It currently has 46 members, with more than 10 applications to join in progress, and its scale continues to expand. It is hoped that through cross-regional cooperation, the development of the regional aquaculture industry can be deepened.

The Chiayi Youth Aquaculture Association was established on the morning of the 29th. Yizhu Township and Budai Township heads Huang A-jia and Chen Feng-mei, County Councilors Jiang Mei-hong and Cai Wei-jie, Fisheries Agency Deputy Director Chen Fen-lan, Taiwan Fisheries Research Institute Director Chen Jun-ru, Republic of China Aquaculture Fisheries Development Association Chairman Xu Huang-zhou, Chiayi County Aquaculture Association Chairman Huang Jin-shi, and many fishery experts and scholars attended the grand occasion to jointly witness the official launch of the new generation aquaculture force.
