Penghu County Magistrate Lai Feng-wei Prays for the Fireworks Festival, Asking for Blessings for the Event's Complete Success

The 2020 Penghu International Sea Fireworks Festival will kick off on July 6. On the 19th, Penghu County Magistrate Lai Feng-wei led Tourism Department Director Chen Mei-ling and others to Guanyin Pavilion to offer incense, following traditional ancient rituals to pray for heaven's blessing for the event's safety and smooth progress.

The worship and blessing ceremony was conducted according to ancient rituals. Magistrate Lai Feng-wei, accompanied by colleagues from the Tourism Department, Magong City Representative Council Speaker Xu Guo-zheng, Guanyin Pavilion Chairman Wang Shun-hui and others, held incense sticks, offered flowers, tea, fruit and ceremonial money, respectfully informing the gods of heaven and earth, and prayed devoutly for favorable weather, national peace and prosperity, and the complete success of the event. The ceremony was solemn and dignified, simple yet grand.

Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Sea Fireworks Festival, which was held in April in previous years, has been postponed this year to run from July 6 to September 3. County Magistrate Lai Feng-wei stated that accommodation operators in Penghu are currently overwhelmed with bookings, showing that the tourism market is gradually recovering. In addition, with the launch of the July Peace of Mind Travel Subsidy Program, travelers on independent trips to offshore islands can receive an additional subsidy of 1,000 yuan, and Penghu's tourism industry is expected to reach new heights.
