Chiayi City "Love+1" Community Food-Sharing Refrigerator Launched

"Cherish food and value things," "give ugly fruits and vegetables a second life" - supporting a new eco-friendly lifestyle. Chiayi City - guiding the Jingzhong Community Development Association of the East District and the Taiwan Food Bank Association (a juridical association) to jointly promote the "Chiayi City 'Love+1' Community Food-Sharing Refrigerator Service Project." A joint launch ceremony was held on the 10th at the Jingzhong Community Activity Center, where Mayor Huang Min-hui and distinguished guests unveiled the plaque, presented letters of appreciation to the sponsoring organizations, and handed flags to 6 collaborative teams jointly promoting the service. This is the first systematically integrated food-sharing service in Chiayi City, and also the first service nationwide led proactively by a local government to guide community organizations in implementation. Afterwards, the group also visited the Jingzhong Community food-sharing refrigerator. Mayor Huang Min-hui emphasized that the most important thing about "+1" is attracting more people to do it together! "Using the most correct method to do the right thing even more correctly - this is the direction that the right people join together and strive toward." Each person adding one more share of your love is "Love+1," a manifestation of loving Chiayi. Welcome to "+1."

Mayor Huang Min-hui stated that being willing to do it is what is most admirable. She thanked the community food-sharing refrigerator for becoming the best platform between the supply side and the demand side. Many communities in Chiayi City have traveled north to learn from experience, and Taiwan Food Bank Association Chairman Fang He-sheng also generously shared practical experience. Carrefour further extended corporate love by enabling near-expiry food to reach communities, where community volunteers reorganize it. The key is not the amount of goods - a simple act of love alone is worth cherishing, making good use of limited resources and sharing them with those in need. Facing a possible future food crisis, such an approach is forward deployment, and even more, an important force for educating children about cherishing food and spreading love outward. Mayor Huang Min-hui also spoke about "healthy epidemic-prevention communities" starting from each community, with a policy of "relaxing without loosening," practicing a new epidemic-prevention lifestyle: wear a mask when there are too many people, wash hands frequently, maintain social distance. Healthy epidemic-prevention communities start with you and me.

Lin Chia-wei, Director of the Social Affairs Department, stated that in other counties and cities, food-sharing refrigerators are usually initiated by the private sector, which then asks the city government to implement them; but in Chiayi City, this is the first time the city government has combined private forces to jointly promote it and join the ranks of food-sharing refrigerators.
