In response to peace-of-mind travel, the Taoyuan City Government is studying the launch of additional accommodation and travel discounts

Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan, while chairing an epidemic prevention meeting on the morning of yesterday (the 28th), said that in order to boost the domestic sightseeing and tourism industry, the central government is promoting epidemic-prevention travel in the first phase, and will push the peace-of-mind travel plan starting in July. The city government also encourages volunteers, auxiliary police forces, borough and neighborhood chiefs, and community residents, among others, to organize familiarization tours during the epidemic-prevention travel period, comply with epidemic prevention rules, and achieve the goal of travel safety. The city government is also studying the launch, starting in July, of an additional subsidy program in coordination with the central government's peace-of-mind travel plan, hoping to encourage tourists to stay an extra night in Taoyuan and boost local spending.

Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan pointed out that the Department of Tourism has launched an additional NT$500 electronic travel voucher for the first phase of epidemic-prevention travel. It is a trial in nature, and it hopes to recruit 10,000 consumer volunteers to lead the way in spending. Therefore, in the first phase, travel vouchers are not being issued universally. If applications exceed 10,000, recipients will be decided by lottery. In the future, the city government will coordinate with the central government's second-phase peace-of-mind travel plan and plans, starting July 1, to additionally gift a one-day local Taoyuan travel itinerary to visitors staying overnight in Taoyuan, inviting tourists to experience Taoyuan's tourism charm. The detailed subsidy plan will be further studied and finalized.

Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that since the easing of outbound travel still requires some time, Taoyuan Metro is asked to grasp the gradual recovery of domestic tourism activities, plan toward boosting domestic sightseeing and tourism, and launch various revitalization programs to increase revenue. On this matter, Taoyuan Metro General Manager Pu Ho-chang explained that Taoyuan Metro is actively discussing cooperation plans with travel platform operators such as ezfly, including considering linking domestic travel to offshore islands with itineraries at attractions along the stations. In addition, Taoyuan Metro is also helping stores along the Taoyuan Metro line and Taoyuan small farmers launch online shopping with pickup service at Taoyuan Metro stations. Market response has so far been good, and it is hoped that this approach will boost the local economy and tourism spending.
