Legislator Liu Chao-hao seeks subsidy for Taimali Farmers' Association to promote Taiwan quinoa industry upgrade
To strengthen the promotion of Taiwan quinoa agriculture and tourism in Taitung, Legislator Liu Chao-hao assisted the Taimali Township Farmers' Association in applying to the Council of Agriculture for the "Rural Regeneration Fund Program," seeking a subsidy of 1.1 million yuan to carry out the "South Link Treasure Taiwan Quinoa Industry Upgrade Assistance and Demonstration Red Quinoa Flower Sea Landscape Creation Plan." A red quinoa promotion event is expected to be held at the end of the year, and a 5-hectare red quinoa flower sea will be created, becoming a new highlight of the South Link landscape, with the hope of promoting the red quinoa industry and boosting local tourism development.
Legislator Liu Chao-hao explained that red quinoa is a traditional crop of the indigenous peoples of Taitung, with a cultivation history of more than a hundred years. Because quinoa is rich in dietary fiber, protein and various minerals, and red quinoa in particular has higher nutritional value than imported foreign quinoa, it is known as the ruby of grains, and was officially named Taiwan quinoa in 2008. In recent years, the value and industry of Taitung red quinoa have begun to attract attention. With guidance and planning, it is expected to become an opportunity to boost the tribal economy and attract young people to return home.
Legislator Liu Chao-hao stated that this assistance to the Taimali Township Farmers' Association in promoting Taitung Taiwan quinoa and applying for a subsidy, with strategic planning and marketing for the Taiwan quinoa industry, will receive 1.1 million yuan approved under the Council of Agriculture's "Rural Regeneration Fund Program." A South Link Treasure red quinoa specialty industry promotion and marketing event is expected to be held at the end of the year, and the planting area will be expanded to 5 hectares. In the future, a red quinoa flower sea landscape can be created in Daren Township.
