Yunlin County - Joining Hands with Farmers' Associations to Protect Flower Growers: Fragrant Flowers of Happiness Fill Yunlin

In addition to being a major production base for vegetables, fruits and miscellaneous grains in the country, Yunlin County is also one of the country's flower-producing areas. Flowers grown in Yunlin, such as Phalaenopsis orchids, Chinese cymbidium orchids, Oncidium orchids and Lisianthus, are mostly exported to Japan, South Korea, Australia, Europe and the United States, but recently, due to the impact of the epidemic, they have faced the difficulty of unsold stock. Yunlin County - in order to assist flower growers, together with the Agriculture and Food Agency, promoted a flower industry revitalization plan, cooperating with the Huwei Township Farmers' Association, Dapi Township Farmers' Association, Gukeng Township Farmers' Association and Sihu Township Farmers' Association in the county to purchase flowers from local growers. Through the skillful hands of florists, arrangements have already been set up at Douliu Railway Station, the Yunlin County Labor Recreation Center (Mother Goose Children's Paradise) and the plaza on the 2nd floor of the county government, and more locations such as the Yunlin Station of the High Speed Rail and the Yunlin Story House will be added later. In addition to decorating public facilities in the county, it is also hoped that through promoting flower revitalization measures, the domestic market will be increased, the consumption of Yunlin County's distinctive flowers will be boosted, and the public's habit of using flowers will be cultivated, making life full of the taste of happiness.

County Magistrate Chang Li-shan said that during the epidemic prevention period everyone's mood has been very tense, and these beautiful flower arrangements can not only help flower growers, but it is also hoped that county residents can relax their tense moods by admiring the flowers. Previously, the county government also helped a production and marketing group in Huwei sell unsold Lisianthus through group buying by county government employees, and next it will continue to hold flower education in primary and secondary schools and other methods to let the fragrance of flowers fill the campuses. Flower art will also be arranged at the Yunlin Station of the High Speed Rail, so that Yunlin people returning home and out-of-town business travelers can all feel the abundant happiness of Yunlin!
