Key management points for narcissus flowers in winter

With proper management in winter, narcissus not only blooms brightly but can also have its flowering period artificially extended, or even be timed to bloom. Here is how:

Delay method: Crush two aspirin tablets into powder, dissolve in 1000 grams of water, then pour the solution into the pot of a narcissus that is currently blooming, and the flowering period can be extended by about one week. This method can also be used for cut flowers in vases.

Color-enhancing method: Using a medical syringe, dissolve food coloring of the kind used for steamed pastries in water, draw it into the syringe, and inject it into the flower scape. When the narcissus flower scape is 25 to 45 cm tall, the scape is hollow like a tube and can hold the colored water. Insert the needle at 1/4 of the stem height (the thinner the needle, the better), and inject the water at this height.

Timing method: If you want the narcissus flowers to bloom at Spring Festival, place the narcissus in a mortar one month before Spring Festival, add a few small stones, pour in clean water, and soak and cultivate it. During cultivation, it is best to keep the pot in the sun often, change the water once a day or every other day, and add a few grains of salt to the water; this will both make it bloom in time for the festival and extend the flowering period.
