Deep-sea fishing fleet gains a mainstay; Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu attends the launch ceremony of a saury and squid fishing vessel

Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu went to Qijin yesterday (the 7th) to attend the launch ceremony of the "Fa Da Cai" - the first newly built saury and squid fishing vessel of Fa Da Cai Fishery Company. Together with dignitaries from the fishing industry, he offered incense to pray for safety and smooth sailing. The sound of lion dance drums rumbled, making the scene lively.

In his speech, Mayor Han Kuo-yu said that under the leadership of Chairman Sun Zhiqiang, Fa Da Cai Company is moving toward diversified operations. From originally operating longline fishing vessels, it has now expanded into the operation of saury and squid fishing vessels. It is a pioneer and model in Kaohsiung's deep-sea fishing industry. The first newly built saury and squid fishing vessel will join our country's fleet catching squid and saury in the Southwest Atlantic, the North Pacific, and the Peru waters of the eastern Pacific, contributing greatly to Kaohsiung's marine industry.

Afterwards, Mayor Han Kuo-yu took part in the highlight of the launch ceremony, the "bottle smashing." A wine bottle was suspended from the bow, and before the vessel was launched, guests let the bottle fall and shatter against the bow, succeeding on the first throw. At the end of the ceremony, the shipowner sent people to scatter cookies and candy from the ship toward the shore, symbolizing a full catch and return. The new vessel is expected to bring large output value to the operator, allowing Kaohsiung's fishery production to grow and flourish. Mayor Han Kuo-yu also hoped that as the company's business scope expands, it can create more job opportunities for Kaohsiung and drive Kaohsiung's progress and prosperity.
