Giving flowers vinegar in appropriate amounts has benefits

Vinegar plays a big role in flower cultivation. If used properly, it may bring dying, poorly growing flowers back to life. Vinegar contains sugars, lactic acid, acetic acid and other beneficial substances. Here, the editor introduces several ways to use vinegar in flower cultivation.

Bougainvillea

1. Treating chlorosis

Many flowers such as camellias, azaleas and foliage plants often develop yellow leaves due to lack of iron, too high potting soil pH, improper management and so on. In this case, add 10 grams of vinegar to 3 kg of clean water and spray the leaf surface before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m. Spray once every 10 days; after 4-5 consecutive sprays, the leaves can turn from yellow to green.

2. Promoting plant growth

Spray the whole plant with a 300-fold vinegar solution before camellias form flower buds, once every 15 days. This can increase camellia leaf size by 0.2-0.4 cm, increase flower quantity by 8%, and increase branching by 20%. Watering flowers and trees with a 150-2000-fold vinegar solution can overcome physiological diseases caused by potting soil pH being on the alkaline side.

3. Enhancing disease resistance

For example, rose powdery mildew, azalea black spot, and sooty mold on roses and peonies, once discovered, can be effectively controlled by spraying a 150-fold vinegar solution 3 times. For flower downy mildew, leaf spot and so on, spraying vinegar also has a certain therapeutic effect.

However, when spraying vinegar on flowers, the following points should be noted:

1. Good edible vinegar must be used; never use industrial chemical vinegar or spoiled vinegar;

2. The concentration must be strictly controlled and must not be increased at will;

3. Generally spray in the morning and evening; be sure not to spray under scorching sunlight.
