How to cultivate daisy flowers? Detailed planting methods and techniques
Common damage from sclerotinia rot, leaf spot disease, Atractomorpha sinensis, and small green grasshoppers.
Control methods: For sclerotinia rot, spray with 50% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder at 500 times dilution; for Atractomorpha sinensis, use 50% fenitrothion emulsifiable concentrate at 1OO0 times dilution for spray control.
The key technical points for cultivating daisies are: ① Sufficient light is required. ② The soil should be neutral or acidic in pH, a fertile, moist, and well-drained sandy loam. ③ Different regions adopt different cultivation and management methods. In North China, sow in open-field seedbeds from late August to early September; when seedlings grow 2-3 true leaves, transplant once. Before winter, move the seedlings into cold frames to overwinter, and cover with straw curtains for cold protection during severe cold.
In the first to middle ten days of April of the following year, transplant and set out; after planting, water thoroughly, keep the soil constantly moist, and apply diluted liquid fertilizer once every 2-3 weeks or so. During the growth period, also pay attention to cultivating and weeding to prevent weeds from overgrowing. In the Jiangsu-Zhejiang area, sow in the first to middle ten days of June, transplant and set out in the middle to late ten days of August, and by late October or early November they begin to enter full bloom. After winter begins, move them indoors to a sunny spot, maintain room temperature at around 8-10°C, give an appropriate amount of fertilizer and water, and move them outside after the weather gradually warms in early spring of the following year; this way, daisies can bloom continuously from late autumn to early summer of the following year.
