What are the care methods for soilless potted flowers?
With the advancement of technology, plant rental has become a trend. Compared with plants grown in soil, which are unsanitary to care for indoors, soilless cultivation has become a very popular method in plant care. The benefits of soilless cultivation are that it allows plants to grow rapidly, bloom with fragrant and large flowers, and it also plays an important role in preventing pests and diseases, and can also make plants cold-resistant and heat-tolerant. There are many types of flowers that are easy to cultivate; plants such as jasmine, Chinese rose, stock, and Monstera deliciosa can all grow well under soilless cultivation. Transplanting plants from soil into soilless cultivation can be done in any season.
1. Preparation of nutrient solution. There are many soilless cultivation nutrient solutions on the market; dilute the purchased nutrient solution with water according to the instructions.
2. Removing the plant from the pot. Take the plant out of the pot together with its root system. Generally, there will be a hole at the bottom of the flower pot, and you can use your fingers underneath to push the plant up.
3. Cleaning the roots. Soak the de-potted plant together with the soil in water of similar temperature for a while, until the soil on the roots has been cleaned off, then you can take the plant out.
4. Place the cleaned plant in the pre-prepared nutrient solution for ten minutes, so that the plant fully absorbs the nutrients in the nutrient solution.
5. Potting. Wash the empty flower pot clean, place a little plastic gauze at the bottom of the pot, then place some perlite, then take the plant out of the nutrient solution and put it into the bottom of the pot, fill the area around the plant roots with mineral stones, and hold the plant upright. Gently shake the flower pot so that the plant roots come into contact with the mineral stones, and finally pour a little nutrient solution until the water flows out from the bottom of the pot.
6. Reinforcing the roots. Place fragments such as broken stone over the plant roots to effectively reinforce the roots and prevent the plant from toppling. At the same time, you can also spray some water on the plant leaves so that the leaves can absorb it better.
7. Management. Although the planting method is different, for both soil cultivation and soilless cultivation, the plant's growth requirements for light, water, temperature and other aspects are still the same. Therefore, during the growing period, the plant should be watered with nutrient solution once a week, and the amount should be determined according to the plant's growth condition and size. Slow-growing plants should receive less, and in winter or during the plant's dormant period it should be appropriately reduced. Plants that can be grown indoors and plants with low light requirements can receive less nutrient solution. Although the nutrient solution can also be used to spray the plant leaves, water should still be applied appropriately at ordinary times, especially in summer.
