A Detailed Guide to Preparing Flower Wound Protectants
After pruning, the wounds on flower branches can sometimes become infected by bacteria and cause rot, so a flower wound protectant should be applied to the cut to protect it. Below are several methods for preparing flower wound protectants for reference:
1. Rosin and boiled oil mixture: 1 part rosin and 1 part boiled oil. First heat the boiled oil to boiling, then add the rosin powder and stir evenly. When used in winter, add more boiled oil as appropriate; in summer, add more rosin as appropriate.
2. Cow dung slurry: 16 parts cow dung, 8 parts slaked lime, 8 parts plant ash, and 1 part fine river sand. Add water and mix into a paste before use.
3. Glue and soil paste: When the wounds of succulents ooze sap, fine soil mixed with glue can be made into a mud paste and applied to the wound. Applying sulfur powder or plant ash to the wound also works very well.
4. Asphalt coating: After melting the asphalt, apply it directly to the wound with a brush for a very good effect.
