What to Do About Root Rot in Hydroponic Flowers? A Detailed Guide to Treatment Methods
Methods: As the temperature continues to rise, the water temperature also rises, microorganisms multiply faster, dissolved oxygen decreases, and water quality deteriorates. Improperly adding nutrient solution, which makes the dissolved concentration too high, can all cause root rot in hydroponic flowers, especially in the Agavaceae plants Cordyline (dracaena), Dracaena angustifolia (fine-leaf dragon tree), and Dracaena fragrans 'Massangeana'.
For flowers with root rot, the following methods can restore their growth:
① Remove all the rotted roots; if the stem has also been infected, use a sharp knife to cut away the infected parts.
② Soak the trimmed flowers in a 0.5% potassium permanganate solution for 10-20 minutes to sterilize them.
③ Take out the soaked flowers and rinse them under running water.
④ Place the washed flowers back into the original container and grow them in clean water (the container should be washed clean).
⑤ Change the water once every 1-2 days, using only clean water without adding nutrient solution. If the water is clear, the number of water changes can be reduced. After 10-15 days of care, new roots can emerge.
⑥ When new roots first sprout, still grow them in clean water; once the temperature stabilizes at 18-25°C, cultivate them with nutrient solution.
