Job Redesign Program for Middle-Aged and Older Workers, up to 100,000 yuan subsidy per person per year

To create a friendly workplace employment environment and activate the utilization of the middle-aged and older workforce, the Taoyuan City Employment Services Office, through the Job Redesign Program for Middle-Aged and Older Workers, helps middle-aged and older workers remove work obstacles arising from advancing age, so as to improve work efficiency and at the same time delay their exit from the workplace. The Job Redesign Program uses measures such as improving corporate working conditions, providing assistive devices needed for employment and adjusting working methods to remove work obstacles caused by the decline in physical and mental abilities during the aging process, enhance work efficiency and expand employment opportunities. In the 108th year, the Employment Services Office implemented the Job Redesign Program for Middle-Aged and Older Workers, subsidizing a total of 60 companies, benefiting 250 middle-aged and older workers, effectively saving costs for the companies and strengthening the work efficiency of these middle-aged and older workers.

Taking GIGA-BYTE Technology Co., Ltd., which received a subsidy in the 108th year, as an example, it mainly manufactures computers and peripheral equipment, with production items mainly including motherboards, graphics cards, laptops, storage devices and servers. Before applying for the program, the case's assigned work items were placing packaging materials for large machines on a moving production line, material brushing operations, inspection and boxing; from finished product inspection to assembly and shipment, physical effort was required to carry finished products to the work surface for inspection and testing. For middle-aged and older workers, long-term bending and physically demanding work placed a considerable burden on their bodies. Before the case, Mr. Wei, applied for this project, he had to carry and inspect 65 to 70 finished products every day, and each finished product weighed up to about 80 kg. The case had to rely on other colleagues' assistance to lift the finished products onto the work surface. Over time, this caused pain and discomfort in the lower back and hand joints, and also led to reduced work efficiency, gradually giving rise to thoughts of retirement. To reduce his physical load and alleviate the bodily discomfort caused by work, the company applied to the Employment Services Office of this government for the "Job Redesign Program for Middle-Aged and Older Workers". After professional committee members reviewed his work process, they suggested that he could apply for a subsidy for a "hydraulic lifting roller trolley", and through adjustments to the work process and the assistance of machinery, Mr. Wei stated that his burden was significantly reduced; the soreness often caused by bending over in the past and the fatigue caused by physical labor had gradually eased, and work efficiency improved. The company also greatly affirmed the professional consulting services and subsidies provided by this program.

Applications for the program began to be accepted starting in January of this year. It is expected to subsidize 60 companies, and more than 200 middle-aged and older people can benefit. It is hoped that more enterprises can also stabilize the employment rate of middle-aged and older workers through job redesign.
