Taitung County stabilizes pineapple sugar apple exports, applications for export freight subsidies soar 2-fold

Hit by COVID-19, after the Lunar New Year, Taitung pineapple sugar apple exports briefly raised alarm; to reduce the impact of the pandemic on pineapple sugar apple exports, Magistrate Rao Qingling immediately announced a subsidy of 3 yuan per kg on pineapple sugar apple export freight, to raise the willingness of exporters to purchase. Hsu Chia-hao, Director of the Taitung County Agriculture Department, pointed out that the originally planned subsidy was 3 million yuan, but applications came to nearly 6 million yuan, showing that the export freight subsidy really worked.

Director Hsu Chia-hao of the Taitung County Agriculture Department stated that Magistrate Rao Qingling stressed that the first priority was to stabilize the purchase price, and in response to the request of the county's pineapple sugar apple industry strategic alliance, agreed to increase the freight subsidy; at the same time, strengthening the expansion of direct sales channels in the domestic market.

For the "Taitung Pineapple Sugar Apple Expansion and Marketing Subsidy Plan," after the expiration of the public announcement period, within 30 days, the number of companies applying to the Agriculture Affairs Section of the Agriculture Department for the subsidy that are legally established and have import-export operations reached 36, with total exports over 26 days reaching 1.96 million kg, equivalent to the export volume in the same period last year; correspondingly, the freight requiring subsidy also reached 5.87 million yuan, far exceeding the subsidy amount originally set.

The Taitung Pineapple Sugar Apple Industry Strategic Alliance thanked Magistrate Rao Qingling for the strong support, allowing the original budget of only 3 million yuan to be supplemented by an additional 2.87 million yuan from the fee revenue of the Rural Development Fund of the County Government Agriculture Department, so that the Taitung Pineapple Sugar Apple Expansion and Marketing Subsidy Plan could be successfully and satisfactorily completed.
