Which flower varieties are suitable for cuttings in spring?
Spring is the most suitable season for cuttings. Not only is the temperature ideal, but rooting is also easy. If you love growing flowers, you definitely should not miss this good season for "cuttings"! Below, the Chuzhan editor will introduce 5 kinds of flowers suitable for cuttings in spring.
1. Pothos
Propagating pothos from cuttings is very simple. You can just snap off a section of vine and root a pot from it.
First, we should select healthy pothos vines, cut them into small sections of about 15cm, remove all the leaves at the bottom, and keep only one or two leaves at the top (be careful not to damage the aerial roots). Insert the cuttings into sandy soil with good air permeability, water the potting soil until moist and thoroughly soaked, place it in a shaded spot for care, and mist daily to keep it moist. It will sprout before long.
2. Kalanchoe blossfeldiana
Kalanchoe blossfeldiana flowers are tightly packed, clustered into a ball, and the flower colors are bright and rich. Its name also has a very good meaning, representing longevity, peace, and health.
To propagate Kalanchoe blossfeldiana from cuttings, choose a plant that has finished flowering, cut the stems into small sections of about 8cm (make the cut at a 45° angle, which helps rooting), keep only one pair of leaves on each section, and cut off all the rest. Prepare sand or perlite as the cutting medium, water it thoroughly, then insert the cuttings, place them in a shaded spot with bright, indirect light for care, and keep the soil moist. They will root in about half a month.
3. Jade plant
The best way to propagate a jade plant is by cuttings. Just one stem or one leaf is enough to root and survive.
Cut a healthy, thick jade plant stem, let the wound dry, then insert it into breathable sandy soil, water thoroughly, place it in a cool, ventilated spot, and keep the soil moist. It will generally root in about 20 days, with a survival rate of almost 100 percent.
4. Jasmine
Jasmine has a sweet, fragrant scent, beautiful flower shapes, and dense, green leaves, and is deeply loved by flower enthusiasts. If you want to grow a beautiful pot of jasmine, you only need a few stems for cuttings, and after a few months it can grow into a full pot.
First, select healthy one-year-old stems, cut them into small sections with more than two buds, keep one to two leaves at the top, and cut off all the rest (it is best to also cut the top leaves in half). Then insert them into the prepared sand, water thoroughly, and cover with plastic film to keep them moist. After about a month and a half, the jasmine will root and sprout.
5. Rose
Roses come in many varieties, with large and brightly colored flowers, and are deeply loved by flower enthusiasts. Roses are the easiest to root from cuttings, and the method is simple and easy.
Choose healthy stems of the current year, cut them diagonally into small sections (keeping 2-3 buds), trim off the leaves, and keep only one to two leaves at the top. For the cutting medium, it is best to choose vermiculite. Insert the stems into the soil, then water thoroughly, and place them in a ventilated spot with scattered light for care. They will root in about 1-2 weeks.
