Hualien County: Letting Friendly-Farming Smallholders Be Seen by the Market

Hualien County - yesterday (the 24th) held the "Friendly Smallholders - Agricultural Processing Community Collaboration" lecture in the Grand Auditorium, inviting Dr. Chen Meng-kai, Chairman of Hepu Agroecology, and local smallholders to gather together, teaching the relevant regulations and procedures for small-scale processing facilities. Paired with audiovisual traceability management "True Food, Sincere Presentation" to boost consumer trust, the aim is to let friendly-farming smallholders be seen by the market, establish a win-win pre-order and pickup mechanism, and thereby gain the trust of consumer supporters.

"Smallholders can do big things, smallholders can bring the Earth back to life!" Magistrate Hsu Chen-wei recounted that from last year's National Organic Forum and Slow Food Forum to this year's establishment of the Hualien County Organic Agriculture Promotion Project Office, the focus throughout has been the concept of "Future Nature" - that is, the more natural the environment, the greater its development potential, and this is especially evident today as the pandemic continues to rage, when turning toward nature has become the direction of the heart's longing.

Seeing the crops that farmers have tended with care, and building up the Hualien organic agriculture brand, Magistrate Hsu Chen-wei not only thanked everyone for their hard work in dedicating themselves to this land, but also expressed the hope that this eco-friendly cultivation method that is kind to the Earth can be passed down through generations in a virtuous cycle. The county government hopes that by holding training courses, combining community strength, or the fingertip economy of e-commerce expansion, more industrial benefits can be created and farmers' quality of life improved.

In addition, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hualien County - reduced the scale of instruction, and so that more farmers can watch online, live-stream links are provided on the official Facebook pages of Hualien County - and the chief, and farmers are welcome to go online to watch and learn.
