March is the peak season for domestically grown onions. In the past, problems such as a lack of storage space and overlapping harvest periods in central and southern Taiwan often led to reports of production and sales imbalances for onions from the Hengchun Peninsula, which has the largest output and the latest harvest season. This year, six farmers' associations led by the Hengchun Farmers' Association jointly contributed 30 million yuan to establish "Nonghe Agricultural Products Co., Ltd.", aiming to share storage resources, promote and market the crop, and build a stable and transparent purchasing mechanism to keep onion production and sales steady.

Lin Shun-ho, director-general of the Hengchun Farmers' Association, which contributed the most funds, said emotionally, "Our predecessors used onions to feed the entire Hengchun Peninsula. If we don't do a good job with the onion industry, we would be letting down all the predecessors and fellow residents who worked so hard." Besides onions, the agricultural products company will also assist with other crops in the future, using a corporate operating model to complement and work alongside the existing farmers' association system.
