What types of aquatic flowering plants are there?
Aquatic flowering plants include perennial flowering and foliage herbaceous plants that grow in shallow water, low-lying wetlands and marshy ground. Except for the Victoria water lily, which is native to the vicinity of the equator, most of them lose their leaves and go dormant after the onset of winter, surviving the winter by means of rhizomes or perennial roots located in the mud underwater or floating in the water, then sprouting again after the warmth of the following spring to grow into new plants.
Aquatic flowering plants are plant materials used to beautify water surfaces in gardens, and can also be grown in pots for ornamental viewing. Common ones include the lotus, water lily, Acorus gramineus, spatterdock, purple loosestrife, water hyacinth, and softstem bulrush.
