How to repot a peace lily? You must water it thoroughly to settle the roots

The peace lily is the most popular plant after pothos. It has bright leaves, a beautiful shape, and is very easy to grow, so basically every plant lover has kept one. The peace lily is also called the white sail or white crane lily. Its leaves stand gracefully, emerald green and glossy; its flowers are like white sails raised on a little boat, giving a feeling of purity and dignified beauty. In addition, the peace lily has an extremely strong air-purifying ability and can absorb harmful substances such as formaldehyde and benzene. Therefore, it has always been a much-loved indoor plant.

The peace lily grows quickly. Usually after 1-2 years its plant fills the pot, the leaves become crowded, and it is hard for it to bloom, so it is generally repotted and given fresh soil once every 1-2 years. If the peace lily is not repotted for a long time, the soil fertility will decrease, slowing its growth rate, and the soil easily becomes compacted with poor air permeability, which affects the breathing of the plant's root system.

Therefore, it needs to be repotted in time. Usually, after repotting it is best placed in partial shade. Each year when repotting, be careful to trim the roots and cut off withered leaves, and pot up over-dense plants separately after division. If the temperature stays stable above 15°C, repotting can be done.

The peace lily generally needs to be repotted once a year in early spring before a large number of new shoots sprout. When repotting, remove part of the old soil, trim the root system, add new potting soil and plant it in a pot one size larger, to benefit root development and promote vigorous growth. The surface of the potting soil should be loosened often so that the soil stays loose and airy. As long as the temperature is suitable, it can grow well all year round.

After repotting a peace lily, you must water it thoroughly to settle the roots, then place it in a shaded spot with light to recover.

For one you have just bought, the flower seller can repot or divide it for you. If you do it yourself, it is recommended to grow it for a while before repotting. When repotting, it is recommended that the new pot be larger than the old one. Take the plant out together with its soil, do not remove the root soil ball, plug the drainage hole of the new pot, put in some soil, then place the plant in the proper position, add soil around it, press it firm, place it in a cool place, and water it. It is recommended to leave it for about a week.
