Habits and Cultivation Techniques of the Landscape Flower Clustered Bellflower

Morphological characteristics: It is a biennial herbaceous plant. The plant height is 40-100 cm, with erect stems. The leaves are alternate, ovate-lanceolate; the basal leaves have long petioles, and the upper stem leaves are semi-clasping. The corolla is narrowly bell-shaped, 0.8-1.8 cm in diameter and about 2.5 cm long, blue or white.

Growth habits: It prefers a cool and dry climate and is not tolerant of high temperature and excessive moisture. It is suitable for calcareous soil with good drainage and aeration. The flowering period is from May to September.

Landscape use: The clustered bellflower has elegant flower colors and is delicate and lovely. It is suitable for summer flower displays. Taller types are used in flower borders or as cut flowers, while shorter types are mostly grown in pots for ornamental viewing or used in rock gardens.

Propagation and cultivation: It can be propagated by sowing, division, and cuttings. Generally sown in spring, with an optimum germination temperature of about 20°C. Division is carried out in spring and autumn. Cuttings are mostly taken in spring. Cold protection is needed for overwintering, and young seedlings need moderate shading to get through summer.
