Tainan City lays out pineapple adjustment measures in advance to stabilize Tainan's pineapple production and sales

Tainan's pineapple season is about to begin in mid-to-late March, and the peak production period is estimated to run from April to May. Recently, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, global international trade has tightened. Mayor Huang Wei-cher specifically instructed the Tainan City Agriculture Bureau to plan ahead and establish a pineapple production and sales response team to actively expand diverse sales markets for Tainan pineapples. The Tainan City Agriculture Bureau actively cooperated with the central government in implementing pineapple purchase and processing response measures, and on February 15 announced the launch of the 2020 Tainan-area pineapple purchase and processing plan, with a first-stage purchase target of 2,000 metric tons.

Hsieh Yao-ching, Director-General of the Tainan City Agriculture Bureau, pointed out that the Agriculture Bureau invited relevant agricultural product processing operators and supplying units from production areas including Guanmiao, Shanshang, Guiren, Longqi and Xinhua to jointly discuss the implementation of the Tainan pineapple purchase and processing plan, and established a platform to match legal agricultural product processing plants and supplying units within Tainan City, using excellent processing equipment to increase the added value of Tainan-area pineapples. Tainan City is about to enter its pineapple production period. The Tainan City Agriculture Bureau has launched pineapple production and sales response measures and prepared concrete plans, and will continue to work with farmers' associations and cooperatives in production areas to monitor the pineapple production and sales situation in the Tainan area, making every effort to maintain stable pineapple production and sales in Tainan.
