Good news! Changhua hard clams receive a large order at the start of spring, first shipment to the Japanese market

Changhua County - and the Changhua County Aquaculture Association held a press conference at the aquatic products processing facility in Hanbao Village, Fangyuan Township. Japan highly recognizes the quality of Changhua County's hard clams. This year (109th year of the Republic of China), export sales to Japan have increased, and at the start of spring a large order of about 10 tonnes per container was received. The harvest was carried out on the morning of yesterday (the 13th) in the Hanbao aquaculture fishery production area, and the container was sealed together. For this year's first shipment to Japan, Changhua County Magistrate Wang Huimei went to inspect the container loading. Magistrate Wang Huimei said that Changhua hard clams have had a bumper harvest, and this first container shipment to Japan allows Japanese people to also eat hard clams from Taiwan's aquatic products, and she also welcomes fellow residents to buy more of Changhua's excellent, fresh, delicious and nutritious hard clams.

Magistrate Wang Huimei said that Changhua County ranks fourth nationwide in hard clam farming, with a farming area of about 1,200 hectares, mainly distributed in coastal townships such as Shengang Township, Lukang Township, Fuxing Township, Fangyuan Township and Dacheng Township, with Fangyuan Township in particular being the main farming area. Within Fangyuan Township there are also the Hanbao, Wanggong and Yongxing aquaculture fishery production areas. In recent years, fishermen in the Hanbao aquaculture fishery production area have begun exporting hard clams to Japan. With improvements in farming technology, export volume this year has increased 2.5 times, and in the future fishermen in the Wanggong and Yongxing production areas will be gradually guided to export hard clams, raising fishermen's production income.

Changhua hard clams are rich in high-quality protein and amino acids, making them a high-quality aquatic product. Hard clams use algae as their food source and are organisms at the bottom of the food chain, so they can provide a high-value protein source without consuming fishmeal. Their shells are mainly composed of calcium carbonate, and during their growth they can indirectly fix carbon dioxide, mitigating the greenhouse effect. It is recommended that people buy more of the excellent hard clams produced in Changhua County.
