Taichung City mandarins and green onions are also a hit abroad: Agriculture Bureau goes to Brunei for marketing

To raise the recognition and competitiveness of Taichung's agricultural products in international markets, the Taichung City Agriculture Bureau recently guided the Fengyuan District Farmers' Association to hold an international marketing and diverse application promotion event for Taichung City mandarins and green onions at First Emporium in Brunei. In addition to offering tastings, cooking classes were also held, and the event was very well received by local consumers.

The Taichung City Agriculture Bureau said that First Emporium in Brunei has long purchased high-quality Taichung ponkan mandarins. Before this year's Lunar New Year, the Fengyuan District Farmers' Association held a marketing and promotion event at the department store. Besides letting consumers taste fresh Taichung mandarins and green onion dishes, a cooking workshop was also arranged, with a chef from a five-star hotel in Taiwan leading local consumers to learn about the mandarin and green onion industries, marketing Taichung's local agricultural products.

The Taichung City Agriculture Bureau pointed out that Taichung ponkan mandarins are moderately sweet and tart, juicy and delicious, with a bright appearance; Murcott mandarins have a sweet, rich flavor and a round, plump shape, making them very appealing for both gifting and personal use during the Lunar New Year season; and the green onions produced in Fengyuan are more juicy, crisp, sweet and tender than ordinary scallions, and have been widely welcomed by Brunei consumers in recent years. This year, 35 metric tons of mandarins are expected to be exported to Brunei, and promotion of green onion dishes to Brunei consumers will continue.
