Penghu County Magistrate Lai Feng-wei attends the general membership meeting of the Penghu Tourism Interpretation Association

Penghu County Magistrate Lai Feng-wei attended the general membership meeting of the Penghu County Tourism Interpretation Association on the 12th and stated that 2020 is Penghu's Cultural Tourism Year, and promoting Penghu's sightseeing tourism relies on the professional interpretation of association members. He hoped that through the members, Penghu's history, culture and beautiful scenery would be marketed to the outside world, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of Penghu.

Magistrate Lai Feng-wei stated that Penghu has a rich heritage of battlefield cultural relics and historical stories. Tourism interpreters have a professional background in tourism knowledge and stand on the front line introducing Penghu's attractions to every visitor. The Penghu County Cultural Affairs Bureau will also serve as the association's backing, providing the latest cultural tourism information.

Magistrate Lai Feng-wei said that last year Penghu received 1.32 million tourist visits, a growth of 12%, setting a record high. Last year there were only about 5,000 mainland tourists, so there is still room for growth. This year the county government will develop the convenient cross-strait Mini Three Links transportation network to boost Penghu tourism.

The 2nd general membership meeting of the 10th Penghu County Tourism Interpretation Association was held on the afternoon of the 12th at the Penghu Marine Geopark Center. This year coincides with the association's 20th anniversary. Chairman Chen Ren-he, Lai Feng-wei and guests jointly cut the cake, hoping the association will develop sustainably for the long term. Magistrate Lai Feng-wei also presented each member with "Comic Penghu History," hoping members would strengthen their knowledge of Penghu's historical background.
