Cash relief for radish crop damage in Dongshi Township, Chiayi County now open for applications

The Council of Agriculture announced on January 7 that Dongshi Township, Chiayi County is designated as an area for cash relief for agricultural natural disasters following the excessive rain of December 2019 (ROC year 108) for radish; Chiayi County on the 8th urged the township office to inform farmers that from January 8, 2020 (ROC year 109) to January 17, applications for cash relief are being accepted.

Chiayi County stated that the area for this cash relief for agricultural natural disasters is Dongshi Township, Chiayi County; the relief item is radish; the relief amount is based on the standard for vegetables (category 2) set out in the "Items and Amounts of Cash Relief for Agricultural Natural Disasters," at 36,000 yuan per hectare.

Relief recipients shall meet the following requirements: (1) Farmers who meet the provisions of Article 5 of these regulations. (2) For relief items with a damage rate of 20% or more, relief shall be granted according to the relief amount; those below 20% shall not receive relief. (3) For short-term agricultural products in the same growing season, relief is limited to one time.

The cash relief procedures and deadlines for this case will continue to accept applications on holidays as usual; because January 11 is the presidential and legislative election, the township office may have insufficient manpower, and the county government urges farmers to avoid going to apply on January 11 and 12.
