Treatment Methods for Common Pests and Diseases of Household Flowers

The scariest thing about growing flowers is when pests and diseases appear on the plants - those tiny little things are really frightening.

But when you grow flowers, it is very normal for some pests and diseases to appear. As long as we handle them properly, they will not harm the plants.

So how should you solve the problem when plants have pests and diseases? Let's take a look together~

Aphids

Treatment methods: (1) Wipe them off with a cotton swab or pinch them off with your fingers. Next is spraying medicine, insecticide or soapy water, which you can make yourself, or you can soak cigarette butts in water and spray that.

(2) If the situation is serious, use chemicals, such as: Huahuashen, imidacloprid, yashijing, etc.

Mealybugs (scale insects)

Treatment methods: (1) First isolate the other healthy plants, then kill the mealybugs with a toothpick, or spray them off with a strong stream of water. Use a solution of clean water and alcohol mixed at 1:1 to rinse the plant.

(2) If serious, use chemicals, such as: imidacloprid, Huahuashen (root drench + foliar spray), malathion, etc.

Spider mites

Treatment methods: (1) If only a few leaves have spider mites, you can remove the infested leaves.

(2) If there are quite a lot, use chemicals such as propargite, dicofol, dimethoate, fenvalerate, etc.

Thrips

Treatment methods: (1) Rinse with water every few days, and do not damage the roots and stems.

(2) When serious, apply chemical control. When the number of nymphs is large, control once every 7 to 10 days, for 3 to 5 consecutive treatments.

For example: chlorpyrifos emulsifiable concentrate, cyhalothrin emulsifiable concentrate, deltamethrin emulsifiable concentrate, fenvalerate emulsifiable concentrate, etc. for spraying.

Whiteflies

Treatment methods: (1) Isolate the other plants that have no insects; if there are only a few, pinch them off by hand, or cut them off together with the leaves.

(2) If serious, spray chemicals for control, such as jishijing, acetamiprid, thiamethoxam, nitenpyram, juma emulsifiable concentrate, cypermethrin zinc emulsifiable concentrate, miexiaoli, kungfu permethrin or tianwangxing, etc.
