Tips for judging nutrient deficiency in flowers and plants

If flowers and plants suffer from a nutrient deficiency, many signs will appear, and measures should be taken promptly.

1. Nitrogen deficiency. The plant grows poorly, the lower part turns pale yellow, then dries out and turns brown, but does not fall off.

2. Phosphorus deficiency. The plant turns dark green, yellow appears between the veins of the old leaves, and the leaves fall off easily.

3. Potassium deficiency. Yellow, brown, and purple spots appear on the old leaves, the leaves turn yellow from the edges toward the center, and after the leaves wither they fall off easily.

4. Magnesium deficiency. The old leaves gradually turn yellow, but the veins remain green, and the flowers bloom small.

5. Iron deficiency. The mesophyll of the new leaves turns yellow, but the large leaves remain green.

6. Calcium deficiency. The terminal buds die easily, the leaf tips and leaf edges die back, the leaf tips often curve into a hook shape, the root system also dies, and in severe cases the whole plant dies.

You can choose to repot and apply a base fertilizer. When repotting, use soil rich in organic matter. If the flowers and plants are in their peak growing season, you can apply liquid fertilizer, generally once every 10 days.
