Overwintering Management Methods and Precautions for Mock Lime (Aglaia odorata)

Overwintering Management of Mock Lime (Aglaia odorata)

1. Mock lime (Aglaia odorata) loves fertilizer, but fertilization should be stopped in late autumn and early winter to avoid prematurely stimulating new shoots, which are prone to cold damage.

2. Control watering. When the temperature is around 10°C, mock lime stops growing and gradually enters dormancy. Only keep the soil at a certain moisture level. If the soil is too wet, metabolism stays vigorous, and the plant cannot withstand low temperatures, which can cause root rot. Generally, water once about every 20 days, and water thoroughly at noon on a sunny day.

3. Place it indoors in a sunny spot with plenty of light. When the room temperature drops below 4-5°C, put a plastic bag over it (cut a few small slits in the upper part) to create a microclimate inside the cover. The bagging time for mock lime should not be too long, to avoid yellowing and leaf drop.

4. In early spring, the flower should not be moved outdoors too early, generally after Qingming, when the daily average temperature is stably above 12°C. Before moving it outdoors, move the flower pot to a south-facing window and open the window to let it acclimate to the outdoor air for 3-5 days, so it adapts to the outdoor environment.
