Cultivation techniques for the flowering plant primrose

The flowering plant primrose is one of the famous flowers with a long cultivation history in China. It likes warmth and shade and humidity. In summer it fears high temperatures, and after being exposed to heat the whole plant easily dies. Therefore, in summer it must be placed in a cool, ventilated environment with shade.

In winter, place the flowering plant primrose in a sunny spot indoors; in other seasons, direct light must be shaded off, and during the seedling and flowering stages especially, strong sunlight and high temperatures are even more taboo. (1) Cultivation: In summer, keep the seedlings in a cool place for care; after September, let them gradually receive more sunlight and apply a compound flower fertilizer 1-2 times. In the north, move them indoors in mid-to-late October, place them in a sunny spot, and from December they can begin to bloom one after another.

Placed at a room temperature of 4-5°C, the flowering period can be extended. During the growth period, keep the soil moist and apply a thin fertilizer about once every 10 days. (2) Sowing: Generally sown in May-June, sown in pots of sandy loam soil. Before sowing, sift the soil, water thoroughly, and after the water has completely penetrated, mix the seeds with fine sandy soil and scatter-sow them on top. Because the seeds are extremely tiny, the covering soil must be very thin, with the seeds still not visible as the standard. Cover the pot with glass to keep warm and moist; at a temperature of 15°C, they will germinate in about 1 week.

When the seedling emergence rate of the flowering plant primrose reaches more than 60%, remove the glass and place it in a semi-shaded spot to prevent the seedlings from growing leggy. After the seedlings have all emerged, pay attention to ventilation. When there are 2 true leaves, divide and transplant the seedlings into a shallow pot; when there are 5-6 true leaves, they can be planted in their final position.
