The best time to repot flowers is in spring

Spring is the most important period for flower growth, and also a good time for flower lovers to repot their flowers. A good repotting method can make flowers grow more lush this year.

1. During the manufacturing process of flower pots, the drainage hole at the bottom often has an upward-facing rim. If this rim is not removed, it will affect drainage during the rainy season, so it should be knocked off when repotting. If it is a plastic flower pot, several more holes should be drilled at the bottom to help with drainage.

2. When repotting, the root ball that is tipped out must have its outer layer of old roots cut off with a flower trowel, and the surface soil of the root system also needs to be loosened with a trowel to promote root development. Otherwise, the root system will curl and twist around the pot wall without extending, making it susceptible to drought, waterlogging, cold, and heat changes, and the plant often develops poorly.

3. After repotting with new soil, the pot soil must be pressed firm to avoid holes appearing in the pot soil after watering, which would affect the roots' absorption of water and nutrients. Also, a watering rim must be left, so that there is space to hold water rather than the pot soil being completely full.

4. Watering must be thorough. For the first watering after repotting, it is best to use the soaking method, that is, place the potted flower in a basin of water, and take it out to drain once the surface of the pot soil is moist. After the first watering, wait until the pot soil dries to the point that the surface turns white before watering again. Flower watering follows the principle of not watering until dry.

5. After repotting, pay attention to the direction it faces. Growth tends toward the sun, while bonsai are often already set in shape, so special attention must be paid to this, otherwise a bonsai with a different artistic conception will grow.
